GST deadline too soon, CAs say CANADIANS NEED more time to adjust before the goods and services tax is imposed on January 1, 1991, according to Tom Kemp, president of the Certified General Accountants Association of British Columbia. “The deadline simply isn’t ade- quate to ensure that the business community can comply with the requirements of the new tax,’’ Kemp said. ‘‘Small and large businesses alike will’ need more time to plan and make the neces- Sary adjustments of their systems.”’ While the CGA _ Association hasn’t commented on the merits of the GST plan, accountants do have questions about many technical issues and inequities that haven’t been addressed yet, Kemp reports.
