But a co-operative housing development planned for 16th Street just west of Fell is umique to the North Shore in that it will provide.-t- tegrated living for a number of handicapped people. The 38-unit development, says North Shore Housing Co-operative president Holly McFadden, will provide a ‘*people-oriented’’ com- munity for a wide range of people and easily-accessible independent living for hand- icapped people ‘‘coming out of basements in their family homes and institutions and becoming part of the com- munity’. Construc- tion would start about two months, after that approval is given and the suites would be ready for occupancy seven months after that.
