Big box foes take case to commuters

THE Community Health
Coalition (CHC) — a group
formed to oppose Park Royal
plans for big box stores — will
take its message to commuters
crossing the Lions Gate
Bridge on Tuesday morning.
Said Jim Barnum, presi-
dent of the CHC, “The resi-
dents of West Vancouver are
strongly against the proposed
expansion. Safety and the
environment must come

betore profit.

“Our concem is that these
expansion plans are only being
done for financial gain and no
thought is being given to the
impact on the traffic and envi-
rormental pollution of West
Vancouver. An influx of artic-
ulated tractor trailors will use
Taylor Way to service the pro-
posed megastores such as
Home Depot and Toys R Us.”
