Artists for Kids hosts summer camp THE | PARADISE Valley Summer School of the Arts will offer two week-long out- door studio adventures for young artists aged nine through 18 with some of Canada’s ‘finest artists at the North Vancouver Outdoor School this July. . The summer school, sponsored _ by Crown Life Insurance and the Artists for Kids Trust, is in a rich 460-acre rainforest near Brackendale, B.C. The week of July 9 through 14 will feature Canadian artist Ted Harrison in a drawing and painting program. Young artists aged nine through 13 will receive daily instruction in _ small classes from, art teachers Barbara Sunday, Pat O’ Hara and Bill MacDonald as they team with _ Harrison to build on individual artis- tic skills, - A daily recreation program of canoeing, hiking, cave exploration, archery and outdoor challenge games will add fun and excitement to the week. Each evening a guest artist will discuss his or her work and life. Renowned. Newfoundland _print- maker. David Blackwood, West Coast painters Gordon Smith and O'Hara, along with Salish carver Rick Harry, will join Harrison for the evening discussions. During the second week, July 16- 21, young artists aged nine through 13 will work with O" Hara ina draw- ing and painting program. Young artists aged 14 through 18 may choose to work with Blackwood and Wayne Eastcott in- a week-long intaglio printmaking workshop or they can elect an environmentally focussed drawing and painting pro- gram = featuring .
