Why would one of the most
respected and highly acclaimed
community newspapers: in Canada
degrade its readers with full color
photos of women in skimpy attire
and call them “Sunshine Girls’?
Didn't you know that a picture is
worth a thousand words?

So, what words do you think of
when you look at the Sunshine Girl.
Pig-headed chauvinism pops into
my mind.

You are giving “girls” the wrong
idea about who they should be.
“Girls” have enough trouble under-
standing their own identity and
body image without your con-
tributed effort to disregard that true
beauty is within.

What are the “boys” of the world
suppose to think about what “girls”
should took like?

Why not consider Sunshine Boys
and depict 25-year-old “men” in
Speedo bathing suits?

With reference to the article in
Sunday’s (Nov. 20) edition of the
North Shore News, I would like to
commend Mr. Knight for having the
courage to say what we all surely
must feel.

We are living today in a society
that istrying so hard to make certain
that the rights of the individual
(including the criminal) are so well
protected, that the rights of society as
a whole have gone out the window.

As Mr. Knight mentions, ‘the
pendulum has swung too far in the
wrong direction.” Let us hope that
enough of us will protest to our local
politicians that we are not going to
take it anymore.

It is a very simple process to call
up your MLAs and voice your opin-
ion — or if you have more time,
write a letter. We cannot as a society
complain to our friends and neigh-
bors that criminals are getting more
justice than victims.

They cannot change the system.
We must speak loudly into the ear of
the politicians. You would be sur-
prised how much weight our opin-
ions carry — if we make them
known!

Thank you for publishing a paper
with great columnists like Mr.
Knight, and, of course, Doug
Collins!
