Grace is the chairwoman of the first-ever International Doormen’s Convention which will be held in Vancouver next October at Michael Lambert's Hotel Van- couver. Business tycoon Jimmy Pattison was there while West Van’s big Jack Munro and Jack Webster were twinning it. The always-witty Sen. Ed Lawson and wife Beverley were sipping and supping along with publisher Peter Legge and Joe Cohen. . The lovely Pamela Martin and her favorite fella, Ken Hutchison of the Avalon Hotel, were on hand with their good pals Eric Cable and his Evelyn. Variety’s Barbara Stewart and her Justice Institute husband Bob Stewart, hoteliers Michael Kaile, John Williams, Susan Gomez, the VTCC's Jan Besseling, The Sun’s Alex MacGillivray, Denny Boyd and Murray Goldman were en- joying the festivities. Fish House owner Bud Kanke happily surveyed the packed room while executive chef Regis Chung created a culinary masterpiece. Chris Matheson led the bidding in the live auction for Barb Woodley’s famous bare-shoulders photograph of ex-prime minister Kim Campbell and finally won it for $12,000. He bought it especially for his and wife Lele Mathisen’s 15- month daughter, Grace, who is Kim’s god-daughter... The former PM, in royal pur- ple, was with her good friends Brenda and Patrick Kinsella and was greeted with wild applause, lasked zillionaire Peter Thomas if he was one of the bidders on the famed photograph. “No way!" he said, ‘1 voted Reform!”’... Greeting you as you entered into the decorated ballroom were Carmen Miranda, Marilyn Monroe, Elvis Presley, Charlie Chaplin and hosts Paige and Steven Funk, Lats of silks and satins, elitz and glitter! Susanne Fonp was so petite ina short black velvet and heavily gold-embossed raffeta dress... Carey Fieldgate swirled ina Wayne Clark black chiffon while Wendy Price swished in short, plunging teal satin. Jacqueline Babick looked chic and shapely in slint black velvet, as did Lily Lee. Brenda Kinsella was in white as was Evelyn DeCotiis. Jt was Evelyn, husband Don and clothier Terry Skiavenitis who won the $10,000 bid on the year- old race horse...
