The Wright House was built for
H.C. Wright Esq., the manager
for the North Vancouver office
and assistant secretary of the
Western Corp. Ltd.

This company, formed in 1902,
was one of the first major com-
panies to take a great part in the
development of North Vancouver.

It was made up of a group of
businessmen whose interests in-
cluded real estate, land clearing,
road making, house building,
general contracting, saw milling
and other enterprises.

They were responsible for build-
ing North Vancouver’s first com-
mercial block (still standing at
Lonsdale and Esplanade), the
Syndicate Block, in 1903, as well
as a number of North Van-
couver’s most prominent  resi-
