BRIDGE WORK BUCKLAND AN‘) Taylor Ltd., consulting engineers from North Vancouver, have been retained as part of an engineering team led by Sverdrup Corp. of Culifornia to ‘design improvements to the earthquake resistance of the Golden Gate Bridge in San Fran- cisco. The total engineering work has been split between two teams and is expected to take about two years to complete. Buckland and Taylor Ltd. has a worldwide reputation for its engineering of large bridges, which includes renovations to the Liors Gate Bridge and the design of the Alex Fraser Bridge. “The contract to assist Califor- nians in seismic upgrading of their largest bridge is an acknowl- edgement of the tirm’s skills in earthquake. and big bridge engincering,’’ said company president Peter Buckland.
