EDMONTON (UPC) - The
prolongation of life is
worthless unless the quality
of life for the aged is im-
proved, Dr. Elwald Busse,
Dean .of Duke University
Medical Center, said
Tuesday.

In a speech to thé Alberta
Symposium on Aging, Busse
outlined a host of problems
facing the elderly, from
increased rates of depression
to declining psychological
health.

“Gerontologists view
attempts to prolong life that
do not improve the quality of
