week's 39th annual Miss
North Shore Pageant was a
lady who had come up
through the beauty contest
ranks to reach the national
pinnacle of being named
Miss Canada.

Attractive Barbara Kelly was
one of five judges, along with
former Olympic skating skating
champ Karen Magnussen, ad-
judicating the 1] contestants, who
charmed the hardest hearts with
their charm, innocence and
determination.

While there can be only one
winner, all of the 11 competitors
gained experience, poise, a sense
of volunteerism and community
involvement, as well as many new
friends.

cookies and wrote songs for the

Van Centennial Theatre.
