Sculpture
unveiled

NORTH VANCOUVER sculptor
Michael Binkley’s four-foot marble
Humpback whale was unveiled
last week at the Hong Kong Bank
building. re .

The sculpture, carved from —
marble of Nootka Sound, was
purchased by Vancouver law firm
Clark Wilson and will form part of
the firm’s permanent art collec-
tion. The Sounding Humpback
whale can be viewed on the sev-
enth floor of the Hong Kong Bank.

Binkley, one of 12 artists repre-
sented by the Catriona Jeffries Fine
Art Gallery in downtown Van-
couver, works only in granite and
marble from Canada, Europe and
Africa. The Nootka Sound marble
is a grey stone with black and
white striations.

“This is one of my_ best
sculptures to date. The marble and
| worked perfectly together,” said
Binkley. .
