Demand
boosts
housing
prices

STRONG BUYER demand
has continued to put upward
pressure on residential resale
housing prices throughout
British Columbia.

The most significant price
increases have been experi-
enced in the Vancouver area.

According to the Royal
LePage Survey of Canadian
House Prices released today,
price increases of 10 per cent
or more have been witnessed
for various types of housing
in many Vancouver
neighborhoods in the past
year. In most cases, much of
the increase in prices has oc-
curred in the last three mon-
ths,

“Declining interest rates
and strengthening consumer
confidence in the economy
have combined to create
strong buyer demand for
homes,'’ said Jerry
Jackman, vice-president and
divisional general manager
for Royal LePage Residen-
tial Reai Estate Services in
Vancouver. ‘‘Well-priced
properties, particularly those
that appeal to retirees or
first-time buyers, have been
selling very quickly.’’
