Beat the coons to your plums

ABOUT 11 P.M. last night there was a racket in
our back yard and our Timmy cat came flying in
the cat door as if his tail was on fire.

Seconds later, two masked
bandits peered in through
the glass door. 1 might have

known - our plum tree is
about four days away from
being ready to harvest and
the coons beat us to it every
year!

I firmly resent those coons
- it’s not as if I'd begrudge
them the windfalls or even
half the plums on the tree

but they always clean out the _

whole works.
Safeway is featuring prune

plums this week for 39¢ a-

pound - I hope I won't have

to buy them!

Home Journal and intend to
make up a freezer-sized
batch.

My family loves spareribs
and I’m always on the look-
out for new sauces for them.
I must warn you - 1 haven't
tried this but I'll take a
chance on it in case anyone
beats the coons to their
plums.

PLUM GOOD SAUCE
1 tablespoon salad oil
1 small onion, minced
1 garlic clove, crushed

1 tablespoon dry mustard
