Present director of purchasing and property Gerry Brewer will assume the $63,000-a-year position March 1, 1987, Brewer, 52, will succeed retiring city administrator Ed Raymond. About 60 applications were received for the position. “We short-listed it to six and these were interviewed by coun- cil,”? Mayor Jack Loucks said. ‘Il personally thought he (Brewer) had been trained for the job and was ready...,’’ said Loucks. ‘‘We felt he had the train- ing and the experience.” Calling the decision a tough choice, Loucks noted that different people bring different talents to the job. “T think we made a good choice,”’ he said. Brewer’s posting to the city ad- ministrator’s position leaves the job of the purchasing and planning director open. Layton in North Vancouver provincial court December 18: North Vancouver man Herbert Bruce Beam was ordered ty return Jan. 16, 1987, to fix a date for trial on charges of resisting arrest and damaging a window. Beam, 26, was charged follow- ing a July 20 incident in North Vancouver City. A stay of proceeedings was entered on charges of obstructing a police officer that were laid against Ronald Christian Jansen, 25. Jansen, of North Vancouver, was in court for a first appearance in connection with a June 27 inci- dent. Before Judge J.B. Paradis in North Vancouver provincial court December 19: Howard Alan Norfolk, 42, was fined $150 after pleading guilty to unlawfully supplying liquor to minors. Norfulk was charged fol- lowing incidents July 9 to 12. Hogan’s case was adjourned un- til Jan. 5, 1987. Before Judge J.D. Layton in North Vancouver provincial court December 22: Gloria Jean Lakes, 25, of North Vancouver, was handed a condi- tional discharge and probation after she pleaded guilty to posses- sion of cannabis resin. Lakes was charged following a Nov. 5 incident. She was placed on a nine-month probation and ordered to perform 25 hours of community work in three months. Robert Harold Marciniak plead- ed guilty to consuming liquor in a public place and was fined $50. Marciniak, 18, was charged fol- lowing a Sept. 5 incident. Before Judge J.B. Paradis in North Vancouver provincial court December 23: West Vancouver man Ronald James Perkins had his case dismissed after being charged with assault. Perkiv., 26, was charged following a June 9 incident in the City of North Vancouver. Perkins pleaded not guilty to the charge. Before Judge J.D.
