A ROBBER who held up a
clerk at the Ranch Hotel in
North Vancouver — shortly
after midnight Thursday
morning escaped with $1,100
in cash.

The Ranch is located at
1633 Capilano Road, in an
area where small hotels are
frequently robbery targets.

RCMP say the staff
member was robbed at knife
point by a lone bandit
described as being 6 ft. tall,
weighing 180 Ib., with dark
shoulder-length hair.

' There were no injuries as
a result of the robbery and
no getaway vehicle was
observed.

on Monday.

A DRUNK who was placed
in police cells in West
Vancouver Wednesday night
woke up the following day to
find he wasn’t even in the
same municipality any more.

While the drunk had been
sleeping it off, an emergency
had occurred at the West
Van police building and he
had been evacuated for his
own good to North Van-
couver, where the hospitable
RCMP had accommodated
him in one of their cells.

Around 3:15 a.m.,
Thursday the cells guard at
West Van had reported a
smell of natural gas. While a
thorough check was made,
the building was evacuated
of all but a few police
emergency personnel, and
the drunk was taken with
them.
