Photos and story by Ellsworth Dickson When Andrew and And- rea MacGregor bought their Dundarave townhouse a year ago, they didn’t like it. Actually, they didn’t like some of the interior design. Already partially completed but not finished, they made a number of dramatic changes to suit their needs and taste. Situated across the street from the ocean with a view that goes on forever, they found it odd that the living room had the fireplace located in an area that would partly block the view. So they moved it. They also built a skylit atrium in the living room and enlarged the room by making the sundeck smaller. They also added a fireplace made of lava rock in the master bedroom. The townhouse has lots of privacy and separation of living areas as it is on three levels. It can have one to four bedrooms, depending on the use. In the MacGregor’s case, Andrew uses one for an office and another for the TV room. The architecture could be described as West Coast contemporary with a square footage of 2,800. There is also a double car garage with an clectronically controlled door. Electronics are ex- tensively used throughout the home with its security system as well as the musio and intercom systems. At the rear of the house is & swim/spa pool with jets to swim against the current. The kitchen’ features Honduras mahogany cabinetry with an oxtensive list of appliances including a convection microwave oven, Jenn-Air range, and a trash compactor. The washer and dryer are also located in the kitchen for convenicnce The landscaping is “casy- care” with a variety of plants such as red maples, rhododendrons, bamboo and Japanese plants. THE MacGREGOR TOWNHOUSE in Dundarave features the very best of everything. Below, the living room has a Squamish rock fireplace and is decorated with “Orfental-contemporary” furniture. Below, right, Japanese grass cloth is used for wallpaper in the dining room. Right, the kitchen cabinetry is Honduras mahogany. C9 - Sunday, July 18, 1982 - North Shore News
