The open house will be on : Sipe “Thursday, Feb. 17 from'4 to 8 p.m.. in the Rose Garden Room. at Park & Tilford "Gardens (333 ' Brooksbank, ‘North Vancouver). - The public is invited to drop by during the open house to talk about truck-traffic issues and review the plans that city planners have pro- - posed. Cay employees have. developed a.plan to keep‘truck traffic out of ‘residential neighborhoods. The goal is to minimize the negative impacts of truck traffic in residential areas, while at-the same time ensuring that trucking costs do not escalate because of lengthy, roundabout routes. , “Although many people were happy with the truck route plan we presented in September, residents in some areas had concerns.” said Tony Barber, Engineering Design supervisor. “We've revised the truck route plan and developed a third option so that-residents and truck operators can consider all the choices and tell us which they pre- fer.” The municipality is presenting three options. One is a “status quo” option which is essentially no change from the existing situation, The second option is the Truck Route Plan presented in September. In this plan, trucks are restricted to arterial roads only. These are the major roads in the City, the roads which most trucks currently use and which are built to withstand the extra weight of trucks. The third option is a Light Truck/Heavy: Truck Plan, in response to residents* concerns. The routes are similar to those in Option 2, but in residential areas only light trucks are allowed, and only in the daytime, THE FOLLOWING are the sched- wed road closures and detours for the coming week in’ North Vancouver District.
