i LOCAL JUNIOR FOOTBALL set Argoc to kick off/ Woot THE NORTH Shore Argos are gearing up for the 1986 football season. Returning to the Argo line-up this year will be most of last year’s starters. Rob Lervold, arguably the league’s most exciting quarterback, will be back calling the signals for the Argos. Backing up Lervold at quarter- back will be Paul Lancaster, a re- cent graduate of Carson Graham. This year the Argos intend to provide entertaining football with explosive passing and running, and a dominating defensive core. In addition to teams from Sur- rey and Richmond, the Vancouver Meralomas and the Renfrew Tro- jans, a team from Nanaimo has entered the league. The Vancouver Island entry will play a series of exhibition games in order to of- ficially enter tier-two football in 1987, This year junior football is being recognized as an alternative route for players with a desire to play professional football, but who don't have the time for a university education.
