The Seattle-based catteine juggernaut recently secured jim “Montreal” Moore’s excellent T Love Bagels (LLB) shop to supply bagels to approximately 80 Starbucks locations around the Lower Mainland. The deal should be worth about $90,000 per vear to Moove and his operation and increase HLB bagel produc- tion from about 150 dezen to 230 dozen per day. Moore, an expatriate Montrealer, opened his off- Lonsdale shop in 1995. He uses a traditional alder- and maple-wood-burning brick oven to bake his bagels, the savoury aroma of which regu- larly suffuses the mid- Lonsdale air. Moore also recently secured the services of master bagel baker Carlos Rodrigues, who was air- freighted out to the coast to help ILB fulfil its new Starbucks obligations. The proof of the pudding, as they say, is in the tasting. ILB has got the proof by the bagel load. 000 Verdicchic Deli and Trattoria, 2409 Marine Dr., West Vancouver, 926-9007.
