30 — Sunday, December 6, 1992 - North Shore News Christmas Window Walk to Bethlehem lS EST VAN- COUVER Baptist Church invites all b North Shore residents to come and see the original Christmas story come alive in what has become one of the truly unique events of the season. . : The Walk to Bethlehem takes place on Friday, Satur- day and Sunday, December 11 to 13. There are continuous tours from 7 to 9 p.m. on Fri- day and from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. . Visitors will be escorted in small groups on the 30-minute Walk to Bethlehem. Led by shepherd guides, they will visit seven scenes and watch the drama of the first Christmas unfold. The production includes a fully costumed adult cast of 50 along with elaborate scenery, scents, sounds and live animals to recreate the events in vivid detail. Visitors will first enter a market scene in Jerusalem, 700 years before Christ’s birth, and hear the prophecy of Isaiah delivered to a frightened peo- ple as an enemy approaches. On a hillside close by, shep- herds guarding their sheep are startled by the appearance of angels telling of the Messiah’s birth and then are given in- structions to go and visit Him. In Herod’s court, the fifth scene, the wise men seek direc- tions and alert a dangerous and paranoid king to the pos- sibility of a usurper. Lastly, the audience wil! enter the stable to contemplate the wonder of the birth of Jesus - Christ. Admission is free and refreshments will be served.
