WV campaig Sy lan Noble News Reporter IN the newly created West Vancouver- Sunshine Coast riding the two contestants fr the federal Reform party candidacy take a differ- ent view of experience. Political neophyte Axel Duch and long-time MP and MLA John Reynolds are vying for the seat. The sixty-something Duch plays up the fact he does not have any prior political experi- ence. Duch has been a member of the party for just’ pwo months and has campaigned for the past month, He sad he has no ties to the past, hidden agendas or the establishment. “Pm just me. “The Reform party stands for people that they call grass- roots. They don’t fike politi- cians from the past to get in there,” he said. Duch said the experience politicians with ties to the past have “does ’t change anything. “You v ant to change some- thing, you have to have new n: a matier of voices and new ideas and new everything. You need to get a new broom in there.” Reynolds has truckloads of experience in politics, He spent two terms in the 1970s as a Progressive Conservative MP in the Burnaby Richmond Delta riding and served as a provincial Social Credit MLA for the West Vancouver: Howe Sound riding. He became Speaker of the B.C. Legislature and rose to the powerful post of environ- ment minister in Bill Vander Zalm’s cabinet. " Brian Watts Duch or anyone else was in on a smear campaign. “I don’t have any names for you or anybody else. “Maybe there are no names, if (Duch) doesn’t have any names.” When asked why the issue was raised, Klatt said he had no comment. Constituency association president Drummond added Duch has not been accused of unethical conduct. “We have had a number of people call to us oudining (that Duch) campaign members have issued some statements about the opposition that may not be in the best interest of Reform. We asked that if this was going on that they speak to their campaign people and ask them to stop.
