MEASLES IMMUNIZATION CAMPAIGN ON THE NORTH SHORE Due to the potential of a large outbreak of measles in B.C. within the next two years, North Shore Health Department will be delivering a mass immunization program starting April 1, 1996, to all children 19 months to grade 12 with a second dose of measles (measles-Rubella, MR). While most children have received a measles/rubella vaccination, studies have found that it takes rwo doses of the vaccine to protect children. Iramunization clinics will be held in schools starting April 1, 1996. Consent forms for school age children will be sent through the school. Parents should be on the alert for the consent form. | For preschool-aged children and/or those‘not attending school, immunization clinics will be held in community centres and the Health Department beginning May, 1996. This second dose (the MR booster vaccine) will be available only through North Shore Health.
