Aquatreads have a canal going down the centre of the tire that channels the water off of the tire more quickly than standard tires. Schwagele said they are selling quite a few of them, with no complaints yet. In fact, one cus- tamer insisted they install aquatreads on most of his service vehicles. Many North and West Van- couverites think they can get away with an all-season tire because the snowfalls can be infrequent and not very heavy. But, as Schwagele pointed out, although they would have been OK last year since there was very RALLYE® GTS STEEL-BELTEG RADIALS = 175170 RI3 RALLYE GTS RWC. Air pressure should be checked regularly, and should be set ac- cording to the manual (if the manual is no longer around, try looking just inside the driver's door). Most tires require approximate- ly 35 pounds per square inch (psi), but the same tire can be put onto a Honda and a Cadillac, and because the two vehicles have dif- fering weights, the necessary air pressure would also differ. In that case, he said, the tire might want 35 pounds on the Cadillac and only 28 pounds on the Honda. If you are not certain, ask a tire expert, he said, adding wear evenly that 32 pounds is a happy medi- um. Checking that pressure often is just as important as keeping it at a good level, Schwagele said, ad- ding a warning against guessing tather than checking the tire with a gauge. * One client was in the habit of topping up the air in his tires every time they did not feel solid, but when the pressure was check- ed he had 50 pounds of air in a 35 psi tire. With the friction and air expan- sion that occurs when that tire heats up, he was risking a blow- out. By ensuring a proper air pressure, rotating the tires regular- ly, and checking the alignment, the tires will wear more evenly and last longer. Drivers may notice a bad alignment if the car pulls. to one side on a straight road, or if the tires appear to be wearing uneven- ly. Regular tire inspections should include checking the air pressure, checking the tire wear and clean- ing the tires. While the cleaning is simply cosmetic, the air pressure check - will ensure proper air levels, and the wear check will indicate whether a rotation or alignment is in order. an ‘annual + Coating System Tune-Up Swageation shouta include ewith snmne, axce ions) LA visual check of ‘the sooling-; 7.
