OPTIONS FOR VOLUNTEERS THE FOLLOWING is a selection of many volunteer opportunities available through North Shore Community Services (NSCS). THE ARTS Council! needs a physically fit person with an in- lerest in visual arts to remove paintings from previous shows and return them to the artist. The volunteer will then arrange and hang works for the next show. The hours are 9 a.m. to noon on the third Thursday of each month. The council also needs an expe- rienced office worker to help with filing, photocopying and mailing newsletters. The hours are flexi- ble. MEN who are over 19 years of age and have good communication skills. are wanted to be big brothers to youths who are be- tween the ages of seven and 12 years. The big brother will share 1991 SAAB 900 4 DOOR 5 SPEED fun activities of mutual interest with the youth. 1f you feel you are a positive role model, help fill a need in uw young boy’s life by becoming a Big Brother, A SOCIABLE, casing visitor is needed to visit a 20-year-old men- tally handicapped man who tives in a group home. He has no fami- ly here and is in need of a person to take an interest in his life. A young woman with Downs Syndrome is in need of a couple, who are between 40 and 60 years of age, who will make ker feel part of their family, go for drives, and to the movies. The hours are flexible. SHARE your people skills and have fun visiting with 25 residents in a care facility. Activities will include playing games and enjoy- ing tea time. The hours are flexi- ble. - A CARING person with good English skills is wanted for a one-to-one relationship with seniors. The volunteer will visit with shut-in seniors and assist with shopping, banking and transportation for approximately two hours per week. Visitors are especially needed on weekends and during weekday evenings. A WILDERNESS = committee sequires a person with good typing and communication skills to assist in its busy office. Duties will in- clude answering phones, typing and working with people who are involved with wilderness pieserva- tion and forestry issues. The hours are flexible.
