This is a cooking show? It is
when it's Eric Lenz and his Magic
of Cooking show.

Eric Lenz is someone who liter-
ally entered this world as a per-
former and personality. Born in
the back seat of a Transcona Cab,
Eric’s first appearance so struck
the driver’s funny bone that he
lost conirol of the taxi and crash-

ed into a dilapidated North End
retail store. Happily no one was
hurt and the shop owner, a retired
magician, provided Eric with the
utensils tha! would shapc his life,
a magician’s cape, a cooking pot
and an old rabbit whose
multiplication skills were not lost
on young Eric.

Equipped as he was, Eric began

his career as a magician and, in
no time at all, managed to perfect
the ultimate effect. He made all
the work disappear. Undaunted
and driven by a desire to soive the
problems of hunger ia the world,
principally his own, Eric doffed
his magician’s cape and turned his
talents to the cooking pot and the
mathematical hare. The Magic of
Cooking was born.

Actually he is very health-
conscious and cooks with no fats
or salt. His recipes are prepared in
T-FAL pans which do not require
any cooking oil. His meals are a
delightful treat to everyone’s pal-
ate.

Featured in the Magic of Cook-
ing show will be the B.C. Gas
Display Kitchen. This is a med-
ern, contemporary kitchen with
white memamine fish, and a
grey/black, salt and pepper cove-
top counter. Over the six-burner
(90,000 BTU} oven, there is a
large mirror allowing any size au-
dience to see the preparation of
food on this highly-efficient, gas
counter-top stove. ‘‘Cooking with
gas is not like cooking on an elec-
uic range — it is better!’’ says
chef Lenz. ‘‘You cook on a flame,
not on a heated element and that
gives you infinite fiame settings
for precise cooking controal.’’

Also included in the B.C. Gas
Display Kitchen is a dual gas wall
oven, with features such as self-
cleaning, infra-red broilers, natu-
ral convection and smokeless
broiling. The kitchen’s double
sink and large working area allow
Lenz a great deal of space to
prepare and display his tasty cre-
ations. A state-of-the-art, side-
by-side refrigerator/freezer and a
microwave oven compiete the
kitchen.

The Magic of Cooking show
will be presented at the B.C. Fail
Home Show, October 17 to 20, at
B.C. Place. Show hours are 4
p.m. to IC p.m. Thursday, Oc-
tober 17, IU a.m. to 10 p.m. Fri-
day and Saturday, October 18 and
19, and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday,
October 20.

Tickets are available at ‘‘Gate
A" at B.C. Place and are $6.75
for adults, $5.75 for seniors, $1
for children aged 6 to 12, and
children under 6 get in free. All
prices include GST. Tickets for
seniors are half-price on Friday,
October 15, 1991. The B.C. Fall
