The races range from 5 km to 10 km Training for Tae kwon do kicks in TAE KWON Do, an ancient Korean martial art and form of self defence, will be offered this winter at Seylynn Rec Centre. With the emphasis on a physical, hard style and spectacular kicking techniques, this martial art is combative, competitive and challenging. Each training session begins with a basic warm-up of calisthenics, stretching and limbering, and pro- gresses with kicking and punching techniques. The focus is on balance, tech- niques for fighting and self- defence. Students are able to dem- onstrate their skills in sparring and the art of breaking. Beginning Jan. 8, classes for six to 12 year olds run 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., Mondays, and 6 to 7 p.m., Wednesdays. For teens and adults, the classes run 7:46 to 9 p.m., Mondays and 7:!0 10 8:30 p.m., Wednesdays. Instructors Darren Clarke and Robert Caird hold second degree black belts with the World Tae Kwon Do Federation and are also certified with the American Tae Kwon Do Association.
