Cleveland school currently has 568 students, with 342 in the im- mersion program and 226 students in the English program. According to North Vancouver School District 44 administrators, the current situation is a ‘‘tight squeeze’ that is putting an escalating strain on facilities, such as the gym, computer labs and the library. A French immersion kindergarten teacher acdressed Tuesday’s school board meeting, suggesting that current planned accommodation for only 160 French immersion students within the district constitutes an erosion of the program. The board annually makes a commitment to an annual intake of 200 children. “This is a goal we work towards and there is no intention to erode French immersion,’”’ said board chairman Don Bell. B.C.
