a Squamish Band fighters hammer out wins THRFE FIGHTERS from the Squamish Indian Band’s Totem Athletic Boxing Club (TABC) brought home four trophies from a Zone Two invitational boxing tournament held in Kamloops Jan. 17. Les Naiianee won the competition's 139-pound division after he knocked out his opponent at 1:18 of the division final’s third round. Fighting in the 147-pound division, TABC’s Dave Crammer, who won two trophies in the competition, knocked out his opponent at 1:56 of the final match’s second round. In the 125-pound weight division, TARC’s David Guerrero, 18, was the runner-up in the division after he Jost in the final match. Playing six games in three days, the Belle team edg- ed out the Regina Cobras 4-3 in overtime in the tour- nament’s semi-final match. The Belles were defeated by Edmonton in the final. Following the Calgary tournament, the Belle ‘A’ team defeated the Junior Belle ‘A’ national team 12-3 atthe NSWC Jan. 7. Katie Drew had five goals in the game. Prior to this defeat, the Junior Belle ‘A’ team routed Aldergrove 12-i on Jan. 4, then lost a close 2-1 game to Langley. up silver Michelle Kemper scored the only goa! for NSWC in the loss. The Tween ‘B’ team, meanwhile, won two 8-3 games against Langley Jan. 3 and 10. In the first game Nicole Mackay and Jennifer Tyldestey each scored hat tricks and Michelle Murphy came up with a hat trick in the second Tween win. Excellent on defence were Mackay and Jennifer Farrell. The Petite ‘B’ team, coached by Elaine Calla, played in a Dec. 27 novice tournament in Coquitlam and won the ‘A’ division.
