The walls around my bathtub are getting very rotted and lots of

how to repair the walls?

BATHTUB:

This problem is caused by moisture that is being
created in the bathroom and allowed to build up.

We would recommend that you use “BARKER
TILES” as a backing board. It is available at your local
building supply stores. You must remove the existing
ceramic tile.

The most simple way to accomplish this, is by
removing the entire wall including the existing tile and
drywall backing. Once you have removed the dry-wali
backing and tile, replace it with a good waterproof
product. We can suggest a product called
DENSHIELD or WONDERBOARD which is
available through DRIMO TILE DISTRIBUTORS,
and located on Lillooet Street in Vancouver. Or we
could also recommend GREENFACED dry-wall
(which is called “moisture Barrier” or “Greenboard”),
GREENBOARD is a form of water resistant dry-wall.

To remove the tile and drywall, simply take a
dry-wall knife and cut along tne upper edge of the
ceramic tile, making an opcning Jarge enough te put
your hand through. Pull the drywall and ceramic tile
off. You will find that you will have to remove the
extension plates around the faucets and shower. .

Once you cut into these areas, you will find that
the wall will be quite easily removed. This procedure
will allow you to insulate the walls, The insulation is
installed in behind the replacement “board”, therefore,
creating a more soundproof and private bathroom.
