PITCH-IN Week — the anti-
litter campaign being
proclaimed throughout B.C.
from May 10 to 16 — is being
strongly endorsed by the
Tourist Bureau of the North
Vancouver Chamber of
Commerce.

Alderman Stella Jo Dean,
a director of the provincial
board of Outdoors Unlhit-
tered, has urged all residents
of North Vancouver and
West Vancouver to par-
ticipate in this annual
program which has been
conducted in British
Columbia since 1967 by
Outdoors Unlittered.

This, Dean says, is part of
their information and
education program aimed at
improving the environment
by changing people's habits
with respect to littering.

“Although nobody admits
to httering and everyone
dislikes it, almost everyone
litters at some time or
other,” Dean points out.

“We should sell
cleanliness like Madison
Avenue sells deodorants.

We should make people feel
good about pitching in and
depositing litter in a_ bin
