The two recent traffic fatalities that claimed four North Shore lives in Jess than a week earlier this month underline that reality. On Sept. 6, a truck carrying six people plunged over an embankment near Hope. Three North Vancouver men were killed; three others in the vehicle sur- vived. According to 1995 B.C. traffic col- lision statistics, more than 53% of the drivers and passengers involved in collisions who did not wear seat belts were injured or killed, while only 23% of their seat-belted counterparts suf- fered the same fate.
