On the North Shore, the average family income of $73,843 surges
ahead of the Lower Maintland’s $56,170 average income.

White 1.7% of Lower Mainland residents are considered affluent, 9.9%
of North Shore residents are in that bracket.

The 154,785 people that call West Vancouver, North Vancouver
District and North Vancouver City home are also highly educated.

More than 55% of men and 47% of women living in the area have post-
secondary qualifications. Those figures compare with 44% and 37.4% in
the rest of the Lower Mainland.

Although 81% of residents cite English as their mother tongue, many
other languages are spoken locally.

Those languages include French, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, German
and Chinese.

North Shore residents are also an active bunch. They spend 2
