Man jailed

A 23-YEAR-OLD North Vancouver man was sentenced
recently to 14 days in jail for breaching his probation
several times.

Tyler Alexander Chambers pleaded guilty Aug. 16 in
North Vancouver provincial court to contacting a woman
contrary to a condition set out in a June 27 probation
order.

Chambers contacted the woman four times between

TWO WEST Vancouver teens face theft from auto and
possession of stolen property charges following a failed
auto break and enter bid early last Thursday morning.

According to a West Vancouver Police spokesman, a
man living in the 1400-block of Chartwell Drive looked
out his window and saw two people breaking into his car
at about 3:30 a.m.

As police responded to his call for help, two suspects
were seen running away.

A West Vancouver Poiice dog team was called in.
Police dog Razz tracked the suspects and recovered a
tool box. A 13-year-old suspect and a 15-year-old suspect
were subsequently arrested. Police also recovered audio
equipment removed from two cars.

Stereo stolen

THE THEFT of a compact disc player from a North
Vancouver store has landed a Vancouver man in jail for
three months.

Michae! Walter Kazakoff, 47, pleaded guilty Aug. 16
in North Vancouver provincial court to stealing a radio
cassette compact disc stereo unit on June 21 from
Woolco.

Judge D.E. Moss sentenced Kazakoff to 90 days in jai!

for the theft.

Funds released

THE VILLAGE of Lions Bay has received $55,742, the
final payment of $188,633 in GO B.C. funding that will
be used to build a multi-use emergency facility.

Provincial Secretary Elwood Veitch, the minister
responsible for GO B.C., said the new facility will im-
prove coordination between several agencies, including
search and rescue, the volunteer fire department and
emergency social services by bringing them under one
roof.

“This is a facility of vital importance to Lions Bay
and surrounding area and will serve to minimize the
response time to emergencies,” said West Vancouver-
Howe Sound MLA John Reynolds.
