Dear Editor:

Regarding the ‘‘Wright or
Wrong" item in Noel Wright's
column on Feb, 29; “Foreign aid
mostly means the poor people of a
tich nation sending their money to
the rich people of a poor nation.”

While witty, this was clearly
wrong. When I worked for World
Vision in Ethiopia in 1985, it was
evident that nearly all the aid
channelled through our agency —~
or Red Cross, Oxfam or a variety
of other major, established agen-
cies --- did get to the hungry people
for whom it was intended.
Responsible agencies such as these
have their own staff on-site to
reccive shipments of food, medical

‘Dirty letter’

1 was surprised to see such a dir-
ty letter from P. Niclsen-Kolding
in your Jan. 20 issue against
retired judge Les Bewley, a very
good man.

I sure would not want to sce a
person with the mind set of
Nielsen-Kolding edit your paper or
any other paper for that matter.
