Lions league- leading defensive unit takes to the field in 1984, fans will immediately recognize some very familiar names ... but it might take a game to get used to some new numbers that they will see. Four well-known members of the defensive team will be sporting new numbers of their jersies this season. They are Defensive End, Nick Hebeler, who will wear #99, Defensive End, Rick Klassen, who will wear #90, Linebacker, Tyrone Crews, who will wear #91, Linebacker, Dave McNeel, who will wear #35 The reason behind the changes is actually quite sim- ple and practical, since all four players will now be eligable to line up with the of- fense at either end of the of- fense in this situation were re- quired to put on a number bib over their jersey, with an eligable number on the bib (70-99 are the _ eligable numbers). The change in numbers will eliminate this problem for these four players who would be used most often in this situation, and so for the first time since 1959 the Lions will have players with numbers in the 90’s series. The uniform numbering System in the C.F.L. was changed during the 1959 season to the current style. Previous to that there were no jersey numbers below #40, with sweaters in the 80’s and 90’s_ series being in the majority. “FREE” KUNG-FU FOR KIDS offer expires June 30/84 North Shore Kung Fu 1386 Main Street (2 biks. west of 2nd Narrows) $ 43-9 qeereeetereterertetetecetecetey COUPON Expires May 26th, 1984 VTHNgi) — CMM taetienay 1508 MAIN STREET, NORTH VANCOUVER B.C.
