IF YOU happen to notice one of the Taylormotive
Tigers hockey players has extra long hair don’t let it
throw you. The wearer of the hair is not a throw-
back to an earlier generation. In fact, at six years
old, little Teresa Campbell doesn’t even know of
any other generation.

In spite of the more open
rules regarding girls par-
ticipation in sport, Teresa is
still the only young lady play-
ing in the S00 member North
Vancouver Minor Hockey
Association.

And even though she’s on-
ly six years old, Teresa ts
pretty firm in her decision to
play hockey.

- According to Alan and
Rosemary, Teresa’s parents,
the young player had watch-

ed all her brother Mark’s
hockey games for the past
three years and was quite
taken up with the game.

She had figure skated for a
couple of seasons but, accor-
ding to Mom and Dad, she

found the repetition and
isolation of the sport
‘boring’.

It was during the sumer
that Teresa decided that
hockey was her game. Even
Ringette wouldn't do, hockey
it had to be.

After all, the energetic six
year old had had the ex-
perience of road hockey with
brother Mark, who is mine
and four year old Billy Joe.

And so Teresa now plays
for Taylormotive Tigers, a
team of beginners made up of
six and seven year olds. The
young lady had no problems
with the boys — except that
they may be checking her a
little more closely. After all
she has scored six goals so far
this season.
