Yolando Jo Murph, 37, lost the title following a two- day hearing before retired Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Joseph A. Wapner, last week. Murph, dubbed the “West Coast Rosie Ruiz” after the woman who was disqualified from the new York marathon in 1979 for short- cutting, claimed she had run 606 miles during the Los Angeles Athletic Club’s month-long cumulative contest three years ago. The club's overall record- holder and business executive Daniel Pena, and his wife, Linda, said they doubted Murph had run that far. Mrs. Pena, came in second by claiming she ran 383 miles. Pena hired a private in- vesligator who reported Murph did not spend enough time jogging to have compiled 606 miles in the month of October, 1980. Unable to convince fellow club members to disqualify Murph and give his wife the monthly jogging cham- pionship, Pena took the case to court. through
