Desperate for coaches Lynn Vailey baseball diamonds are going to be lonely places this season unless three volunteer coaches step forward — and soon, says a spokesperson for the Lynn Valley Baseball Association. About 40 youths, aged 13- 16 can't begin practice for the season without the ser- vices of two coaches for the Pony League (ages 13-14) and one in the Colt League (15-16). The season begins April 24 and if the coaches can’t be found, it will be the first ume in the association's history that it has been unable to field a full slate of teams. “We usually don't have much trouble finding coaches for the PeeWee (ages 8-9) and the Minor and Major (ages 10-12) Little League. says President Gordon Hall. “But the older youths require coaches with more expenence and they're harder to find. It will be a real shame if no one comes forward this year because it will mean we'll have to cancel the sponsorships and disband these three teams.” The Lynn Valley Baseball Association is an umbrella organization for 23 teams and relies on the efforts of more than 200 adults in the Valley who do everything from organizing the annual picnic to umpinng.
