By Surj Rattan News Reporter North Vancouver RCMP Insp. Peter Wlodarezak is being trans- ferred to the RCMP’s divisional headquarters in Edmonton, Alberta, where he will be involved with the internal workings of the nation’s police force. His last day on the job in North Vancouver will be Tuesday. Wlodarczak has been posted in North Vancouver for the past two years after being transferred from the Vancouver RCMP. Wlodarezak, a 28-year veteran of the RCMP, was in charge of the North Vancouver detachment’s day-to-day operations and was also the second-in-command. Asked to recall one incident that stands out the most for him dur- ing his two-year stint in North Vancouver, Wlodarczak quickly refers to the RCMP’s capture of convicted. kidnapper and rapist David Alexander Snow fast year. “The thing that comes right to mind is the Snow investigation and the success of it,’ said Wlodarczak. He said he has enjoyed his time working in North Vancouver and had special praise for North Vancouver District Mayor Murray Dykeman and North Vancouver City Mayor Jack Loucks. “Iv’s been excellent being here. The people are concerned and in- volved. in their community. The municipal councils have been very supportive. “The two mayors have also been excellent. They’re both very aware of what the. community’s wishes are,”’ said Wlodarczak. He also pointed to the work the North Vancouver RCMP have done in patrolling. He also praised the focal detachment's community policing section. Born in Lythan St. Awnes, England, Wlodarczak, 48, is mar- ried with three children. One of his two sons followed in his footsteps and is now an RCMP constable stationed in Kelowna, His daughter works as a nurse in Delta. He also has an adopted Filipino son who is in Grade 9. Wlodarczak said becoming a police officer had been one of his childhood dreams. Much of his time now is spent doing paper work, but Wlodarc- zak said things were different earlier in his career. For instance, when he was sta- tioned in Fort St. John: ‘‘There was a man sleeping in his car and bullets went through the door.
