NORTH Vancouver
City approved almost
$229,000 in grants last
month, but left many
social service agencies
cut in the cold.

of the cash, while social service

ed, requests totalled
$188,060. None of the 10
new applicant organizations
received funding.

In its report, the social
planning and advisory com-
mittee (SPAC) stated,
“Although many of the new
requests had elements that the
committee viewed favourably,
it was decided that, to be fair
and equitable, no new grant
applications would be recom-
mended for funding this
year...”

Some of the organizations
