PLANS to use park
land for business park-
ing drew heat at a
North Vancouver City
Council meeting
Monday.

Coun. John Braithwaite
brought forward a discussios
abour the proposed use for
Sunrise Park in a heated dis-
cussion thar took the better
part of a hour.

Council has already
endorsed a plan that would
sce Lions Gate Studio con-
struct 150 parking stalls on
park land using a temporary
gravel surface

“Pm opposed to any type
of temporary parking in the
park area,” Braithwaite said.

“This park should be for
public use and not for the
use of the private business
sector such as the Lions Gate
Studio group.

industry here in North
Vancouver, bur we have a
responsibility to the commu-
nity and there are people out
there that have been waiting
for 10 to 15 years to see
something done to create a
