Housing Act (NHA) insured
mortgages were issued last
year according to the 1996
Canada Mortgage and
Housing Corporation
(CMHC) annual report.

New home buyers, under
the First Home Loan Insurance
(FHLI) Program, comprised
138,480 of the coral.

The past year, CMHC’s

CMHC's role as Canada's
housing agency, said Mare
Rochon, CMHC president, in
the just released report.
