IT’S A strange thing, but I
often have to read the for-
eign press to know what’s
going on.

An example was the scandals
surrounding Slick Willy, otherwise
known as President Clinton. They
broke in the U.K. long before they
- became public here.

And how many of us know that

."” It's likely that we. know nothing

by our media and criminologists.

He says most killers are simply
evil creeps, and never mind about
all that guff about their having bad
daddies.

You knew that all the time? So
did 1, But all that means is that you
weren't brainwashed by the voodoo
experts who persuaded Ottawa to
do away with the death penalty.

The Sunday Telegraph did a big
feature on Leyton recently and
here’s what he has to say about ser-
ial killers:

“Everything i found out about
them pointed to them being small-
minded, socially inadequate goons,
whose grudges against the rest of

: us could only be redeemed by mur-

der. There was nothing mad about
them. They were wicked.”

Clifford Olsen springs to mind
here. So does the late Jeffrey
Dahmer in the U.S., he being the
homosexual who ate his victims
after doing them in.

Then there’s Charles Ng. It took
us nearly five years to kick him out
of Canada to face trial for multiple
murders in California during
which, reportedly, he had recorded
the agonies of his victims on tape.

Even then he was ordered out
by a majority of only one in the
Supreme Court of Canada,

And let's not forget the Greg

. Williams case covered here on

Wednesday. Williams had commit-
ted one of the cruellest murders
ever. But his second killing brought
him only a 12-year concurrent sen-
tence, which means no extra time.

Our laws have been written by
lunatics.

and states that the English murder
rate is no higher than ‘that of
Newfoundland — 1.2 per 100.000,
one of the lowest in the world.

(He excludes “foreign clements”
from the calculation —— meaning
immigrants, no doubt; also Celts —
which must mean the mess in
Northern Ireland.)

The overall Canadian murder
rate, he says, is nearly twice as
high as the English — 2.2 per
100,000. The U.S. takes top place
with 10.

The English are nevertheless
fascinated with murder. Why?
Because it is so rare. That's why
they have all that Agatha Christie
and Inspector Morse stuff on TV.

“The typical English murderer is

stabs her.

“Or it could be a guy who gets
into an argument in a pub about the

“Most killers in England don’t
plan what they do and when they

remorse.

unnatural, You don't have anything
like the romantic, worshipfui
attachment to violence that exists in
the United States.”

As for serial killers, they are
nothing like Hannibal (the
Cannibal) Lecter, the anti-hero of
The Silence of the Lambs.

“They are just deadbeats with
persistence; lifelong losers enjoying
a brief winning streak.

“These people muy give the
impression of being clever, but they
never are,” says Leyton. “The
cleverest thing the (woman-killing)
Yorkshire Ripper did was to per-
suade the world he was mad.

“These people aren't geniuses;

they are evil, angry morons who
can’t find any other way to express
themselves.” . :
What better argument could -.. -
there be for putting them out of the .
way? .
Instead, we wring our hands and
say it would be inhuman to do so.’.
_ But how can one be inhuman to’
humans who are not human?
