sun's position and where it is shin-
ing on the earth's surface ata
given moment.

Said Cove Cliff principal Lois
Hosein, “It's really quite neat. The
kids can learn about the seasons,
the way the light changes over. the
‘vazth as well as day and night.”

The school’s Parent Advisory
Council purchased the global time
indicator ata cost of $2,800 in
mid-February, said Hosein.

The global time indicator sim-
ply plugs into the wall. It stands
about 3’ by 1.5’ (0.9 m by 0.45 m).

The non-computer includes a
clock-time mechanism. The map
on the device moves slowly from
left to right to reveal the changes.

The device’s inventor thought
an “ata glance” global time indica-
‘tor would be a handy device after
he forgot about the time change
when he phoned his wife in the
United States from Europe.

social studies and literature class-

say to the kids, whal time is it in
Japan right now? What kind of cli-
mate does Japan have?” said
Hosein.

two Cove Cliff pupils and is on the
Parent Advisory Council's “envi-
rofair” committee.

Henderson said her company
would like to market the product in
all Canadian learning establish-
ments,

device was created 26 years ago in
the United States and is used in
schools throughout the world,
according to Henderson.
