in three sections, or vertically into
two sections using plywood. Ram
cargo boxes come in 6.5-foot

(1.95 m) or eight-foot (2.4 m)
lengths. :

Payload and towing capacities
are competitive or better than
other full-sized pickups, depen-
ding on the model you choose.

With all its innovative features,
the new Dodge Ram can’t help
but be strong competition for the
Ford F-series and Chevrolet/GMC
C/K series pickups, the only ma-
jor competitors in its class.

improved in 94 model

Until the Millenia arrives,
however, Mazda is focusing its
attention on the upgraded 1994
vehicles. - ‘

‘The most significant change
takes place on the truck side, with
the popular B-series.

Utilizing Mazda’s strong ties
with Ford, the B-series has been
completely redesigned based on
Ford’s extremely successful
Ranger series. The hood, grille,
bumpers, lights, fenders, quarter
panels and interior fabrics are
different from Ford’s couterpart
truck model, but otherwise, the
two trucks are basically identical,
including the three engine choices
(two V6s).

The retro Miata roadster gets a
larger, more powerful 1.8-litre
engine with 128 horsepower. With
a greater torque output at low-
to-mid-rpm ranges, the Miata
should feel faster off the line.

Other changes are limited to
increased body rigidity, improved
side protection, larger brakes, new
aluminum wheels, available pas-
senger’s-side airbag, and a new
automatic transmission designed
to shift smoother.

Mazda's stylish MX-3 Precidia
also received a few changes worth
mentioning.

The performance of the base RS
model, which starts at $15,175,
has been substantially improved
through the new-for-’94 1.6-litre
dual overhead cam engine. With
105 horsepower on tap, the entry
engine pumps oul 17 more horses
than last year’s base ’93 model.

The MX-3 also sports a new
dash panel, which has been
designed to accommodate the op-
tional dual airbags.
