Ontario association raises
solicitation consternation

the Ontario-based organization is
not affiliated or sanctioned by any
police agency in B.C. and that the

. group is soliciting funds over the

‘telephone on behalf of the police
services of B.C.

Laughy recommends the public
not donate to the B.C. Police Aid
Association; anyone approached
for a donation, he said, should
contact the nearest police agen-

cy.

Childcare
considered
for NVD

employees

NORTH VANCOUVER District
Council has agreed to contribute

$3,000 towards the cost of a
survey on employee childcare
needs.

The North Shore Mayors’ Task
Force on Work Related Childcare
was formed to identify and act on
opportunities for collaboration
between North Vancouver City
and District, corporate and public
sector employers, and community
service organizations such as the
United Way, the chamber of
commerce and the North Shore
Child Care Resource Society.

Information comparing
employee needs in various
workplaces is required for
employers to consider col-
laborative action.

Such a survey is estimated to
cost $14,000, which is to be
shared among seven to eight
organizations.

BC Rail, the North Vancouver
District 44 School Board, North
Shore Health and [CBC have al-
ready agreed to participate.

The district is one of the major
employers on the North Shore,
having 450 full-time employees
and an additional 80 full-time and
250 part-time employees working
for the recreation commission and
the library board. .
