WEST VANCOUVER Police
super dog Razz was called in for a
tricky bit of three-way tracking
just after midnight April 28 when
three suspects took a cab ride on
the North Shore and allegedly ran
off without paying the tab.

Three UBC students face
charges of obtaining transporta-
tion by fraud. One of the students
faces an additional charge of theft
under $1,000.

Police and the dog were called to
the 3300-block of Radcliffe
Avenue after the three suspects
took off with $8.20 allegedly ow-
ing to a North Shore Taxi cab
driver. Police say one of the
suspécts ran off with the cabbie’s

Razz picked up a scent and
began tracking from the scene. The
dog tracked west and turned south
into a driveway where he indicated
a man standing concealed behind
wooden lattice work built between
two yards. The man was ap-
prehended and Razz returned to
the 3300-block area. The dog
cancelled out the first scent and
picked up a second. Razz tracked
south to a beach, turned east into a
backyard and continued east along
the water’s edge. The suspect, who
was running from the dog, even-

tually ran into a waiting police of-
ficer. .

The dog was returned to the
starting point once more and in-
dicated a third scent on Radcliffe.
Razz ran on to Maple Lane and
turned south, tracking through a
park area and through the
backyard of a house in the 3300-
block Radcliffe. The dog tracked
on to a concrete patio, where a
door leading into the house was
found ajar. Fresh dirt was noted
on the floor.

A verbal police dog search warn-
ing was issued and a woman ap-

and Christopher John Wall, all of
2525 West Mall at UBC.
McLoughlin faces an additional
charge of theft under $1,000.
