clinch

THE CAPILANO College Bhues
soccer team clinched first place in
the Totem College Athletic
Association League (TCAA) with a
tie and a win over Cariboo College
on the weekend.

The Blues battled the Kamloops
team to a 1-1 deadlock Saturday
(Oct. 18).

Centreback Rick Celebrini put
the Blues into a 1-0 lead in the
game’s first half when he scored
on a penalty shot.

Cariboo tied the game late in the
second half with a goal from a
corner kick.

In Sunday’s hotly contested
rematch, the Blues held on to a 2-0
first half lead to trim the
Kamloops squad 2-1.

Celebrini again opened the scor-
ing from a penalty shot and centre
forward Dino Centanni made it 2-0
on wicked header.

Cariboo missed a penalty shot in
the first half, but converted
another penalty shot in the second
half.

The weekend games left the
Blues with six wins and three ties
atop the TCAA.

The Blues will host Nanaimo’s
Malaspina College on Saturday at
1 p.m.
