We gasp in unison at the monstrosity unleashed, the incomprehensible suffering caused. We shake our fists and. yell with yoices contorted with terror to those with fingers closest tothe buttons, that what happened on August 6 and August 9, 1945 must never happen again. Yet, for all the yelling, for all the evidence‘of horror and imminent Armageddon, we ‘continue to live in. the autumn of an impending nuclear winter. ae ' While the world’s superpowers fence and © _joust with blustering rhetoric, and emerging nuclear nations ponder targets for the day they get the bomb, the world rides an endless rollercoaster of fear. in the 40 years since mankind was ushered into the nuclear age aboard the radioactive winds from Hiroshima and Nagasaki, we have only learned to fear what has been .upleashed and to improve. on:the efficiency of its destructive power. Nuclear annihilation has become the grim backdrop to life. The latter terms ts univer- sally used by the real estate industry in general. But no one assumes a mortgage per se - unless what is termed ‘motivation’ is made a part of the agreement! All a buyer assumes. is the right to continue making payments on the mortgage which still remains the responsibility of the original contractor! If a home be sold with ‘assump- tions’ half a dozen times and the sixth buyer defaults, the original (initial) contractor of that mortgage will stilt be held liable! North Vancouver is fortunate to have the work of an established artist whose work is receiving fa- vorable criticism in Canada and the United States. This air pollution has been a problem in this area for as long as we have lived here. The smell that occurs most often this year is the pet- roleum.
