The closest finish in the his- tory of the B.C. Cycling Hill Climb saw a former Com- monwealth bronze medalist edge a strong, charging field. Vancouver’s Scott Goguen (Team Magicuts), a 1990 Commonwealth Games team member, won both legs of the 1993 championships. On Sept. 41, Goguen won the 11.2- kilometre (6.9 miles) climb up Cypress Bowl Road and, on Sept. 18, edged North Van- couver’s Larry Zimich (Image Bicycle Fitness) on the 12.6- kilometre (7.8 miles) Mt. Capilano Rugby club teams are back to their winning form, as five of six club squads won on weekend games. The day started ‘with the juniors, playing short, defeating UBC oldboys at Jericho. The second divi- sion team beat the Ex-Brit- tania Lions 36-15; the third division beat the Lions 24-15, and the fourth (Bs} won 2!- 13, The only loss for the club was a fourth (As) division loss to the UBC oldboys. His main target for the day was Brent McLennan, who hauled in five catches for 101 yards and one touchdown. Royals’ middle linebacker Dan Elliott had another standout per- formance, accounting for 14 tackles in the game. The 6’ 3” 225-pounder has 31 tackles in his last two games. SENIOR GIRLS’ FIELD HOCKEY Tuesday, Oct. 12 at 3:45 p.m.: season, the teams split the Opening two games — Sentinel won 15-13, while West Van- couver retaliated with a 15-5 decision.
